Welcome / Fáilte Romhaibh
Welcome to our school website. Tá fáilte romhaibh go léir! Clonfert National School is situated in the parish of Eyrecourt-Clonfert-Meelick in East Galway, currently comprising of 3 mainstream class teachers, 2 Special Education Teachers and our secretary.
Our Crest
Our school crest was designed by the pupils. It is split into four parts.
As a school, we encourage involvement in all sport and games. We have a very proud tradition of Gaelic Games particularly and feature prominently in all county competitions.
We included Our Lady of Clonfert because of our close connection with the Church community. We are very proud of this special statue and all that she represents.
Our school has a happy, vibrant environment where children are enthused with a love of learning. All aspects of education are encouraged. We pride ourselves in all our academic achievements and we are always learning new skills in music, art and drama.
The picture of the boat represents St Brendan the Navigator’s strong historical link to Clonfert. Our school is named after St Brendan and as he is buried in Clonfert Cathedral, he is a very important figure in our local heritage.
Our school motto on our crest is “Mol an óige” emphasizing the role of positive affirmation of good behaviour. “Treat others as you would like to be treated” is another mainstay that has been part of the culture of the school for generations.
