We had a very enjoyable day trip to the bog recently. Check out the pictures of our day!

There was great excitement yesterday morning arriving at school knowing we were just about to embark on our long-awaited cycle down to the callows. As I managed to shift through the gate I noticed that the majority of the items for the cycle were already well organised. Once I finished tidying my numerous bags we were guided into our classroom where we would spend our last 30 minutes prior to the cycle.
We set off and after a relatively short cycle to one of the Seymours up from the crossroads we came across Christie Cunniffe’s house. He gave us a lecture on some (alleged) history of the refurbished dwelling. As it came to an end, he did not make little of the fact that he would be guiding us for the majority of the trip. It was great to have such a knowledgeable guide accompanying us. We continued on a much longer cycle to the bridge. Christie informed us of its much interesting history that was accumulated to him by previous elders he knew. We continued for a relatively tranquil period. We were called to a halt when the field came into view. After a short break for some (consumable) subtleties, we entered the drenched field. My path was partly misled for Mrs Burke and I were a short distance behind the main group. This was the cause of much hassle for it caused me to fall into a misleading-sized bog hole. Once that drama was dealt with, we entered a well-kept house with a renovated roof that was situated there. On entering the house, we came to a small portion of shock due to its size for a house of its time. Nearing the end of our trip we came to a railway bridge crossing the Shannon. On our way back we came across a few things that we did not see on the way up. Our final stop was the cathedral in which we sadly did not have time to pay respects to our dead relatives. After a long day we arrived back at the school. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed my day with every cell of my body.

It was 9am when I went to school with my bike. Mr Kelly planned to go to meet a guy called Christy Cunniffe who would be our guide. Kevin and Rian brought out high vis jackets. We all got one. After a while we headed down Clonfert to meet Christy at his house. He told us that there was a ghost in the house before he lived there. He said that a priest took the ghost out. Christy also said that he made wine. We cycled to a bridge that was used to deliver Guinness on a horse down from Dublin. Then we went to another cottage. Mrs Burke parked beside the entrance to a field. We all got our top boots out of Mrs Burke’s car. After a few minutes we walked to the cottage. We all fitted in the cottage. We looked around the place and listened to Christy talk about it’s history. After looking around we went to a train track to eat our lunch. Once 5th and 6th ate their lunch we travelled to the cathedral. After six minutes we headed to the school as it was home time🚲🚲. We had a great day out on out bikes.
